Coming from a small town in California, Porter’s a small town simple guy who lives an artistic lifestyle. He experiments with all types of different surf equipment. His board of choice is a 6’1” 18 ½” 2 ¼” Rusty Redline. He himself is 6’1 and weighs 175 on a good day. Although he is tall in stature, Porter surfs waves of all sizes.
Since the age of 6, Porter has been pushing the limits to his surfing as well as his waterman skills. He started surfing competitively at 9 years old. As a result of years in NSSA (2nd over all in 2010 NSSA Men’s Explorer) and competing on a Pro/Am level (winning Men’s 2010 Brooks Street Classic), Porter has fine-tuned his talents. While surfing competitively, Porter has looked to further enhance his waterman skills.
Through Porter’s life of surfing, free diving, and hunting for lobsters, at the age of 16, Porter chose to work for the Laguna Beach Lifeguard Department. He as been there ever since. Porter sticks close to his roots in the small town of Laguna Beach. The waves might not be too great but he has specialized his surfing with close out barrels, shove its, and slob grab air three sixties.
Through Porter’s unique and artistic lifestyle, he has created the website susocollection.com, featuring different artists as well as surfing through an artistic perspective.
