AMBASSADOR

Kalani Chapman

Kalani Chapman comes from North Shore royalty. His uncle is Owl, pioneer and mythical mad man. His older brother is Shawn (Briley), fat and reckless and graceful and mad too. With this heritage Kalani surfs waves that even the most salt-crusted Hawaiian veterans fear. He surfs maxing second reef Pipe, closing out Waimea. He owns regular days at Pipe, picking whatever waves he wants from the fame-seeking hordes. He drops, frontside, at Pipeline (he is a goofy foot) and weaves his way though bombs with not one tense muscle. Sliding deeper than anyone into cavernous pits. He can’t help it. His genes demand.

Kalani Chapman is a legend in his own time. Tales of his daring already pass around. Have you heard of the time he paddled out on a single fin and took on the biggest wave of the biggest day of the year? Did you see a clip of his 100 second barrel at Deserts? Have you heard of the time he…? Kalani rides 6’1” round-tails on normal Hawaiian days. He rides 6’6” rounded-pins at big Rockies and small Pipe. He rides 7’0” at big Pipe. At big anywhere. Kalani works through over 25 boards a season. The road to greatness is paved with broken fiberglass.
