Buller Cattleman's Rail Jam

The annual Burton Cattleman's Rail Jam @ Mt.Buller (Vic,Aus) is on this weekend!!

Arguably the most core rail jam held in Aus. It's a 20stair throw down on the sketchyrail in the village square stairs. Your truly has fell over walking down the stairs…let alone ever attempting to boardslide the thing…it's on a gnarly 45 degree angle!! The event is set to run this Saturday night under lights, and is always assures good times.16 of Australia's best will battle for the $7k up for grabs!! Rusty Team rider Andrew Roth will be competing in the qualification round. Rothman made the main event last year and looks to step it up again after a killer training season in Breck (CO).

RIDER LIST ANNOUNCED
FOR 6TH ANNUAL BURTON CATTLEMAN’S RAIL JAM

Sydney, Monday 11th July, 2011 – Australia’s top snowboarders are gearing up for the 6th Annual Burton Cattleman’s Rail Jam. 12 invited riders are getting set to battle it out under lights on Mt Buller’s famed Cattleman’s rail this Saturday 16th July from 6pm.

Last year’s winner, Tom Pelley will join the likes of event veterans Jye Kearney and Robbie Walker to showcase their repertoire of tricks in front of the Mt Buller crowd. Making up the complete rider list Lance Rees, Harry Crean, Matt Sedunary, Mitch Williams, Pete Long, Michael Trotto, Jason Maxfield, Matt Galina and Jess Rich will join them in Australia’s premier rail event to compete for a share of the $7,000 prize pool on offer.

4 additional spots are available for the taking; qualifications take place at 12pm on Saturday. To register be at Freeride at 9am.

To kick off the weekend Transfer Snowboard Magazine will be holding a photo exhibition at Après Bar, Mt Buller Chalet from 6pm this Friday night for the launch of the 2011 Transfer Photo Book. On display will be some of the most iconic photos of the year along with some of the best photos from the Cattleman's Rail Jam 5 year history.

MTV Snow Jam will present the official after party to finish the 3-day MTV Snow Jam party tour. Sydney DJ Duo Softwar will warm up the crowd supporting Muscles at Mt Buller’s Kooroora Hotel. Entry is free and doors open at 8.30pm.

Opening weekend at Mt Buller

Rusty team rider Shaun Belmore headed to Mt. Buller in victoria Australia on the weekend to celebrate the opening of the southern hemisphere season.
A great surprise was that there was snow everywhere. usually this weekend you are lucky to see a dusting maybe 1 lift open. Best opening ive seen yet. small rail park and 4 lifts turning.

Great weekend on and off slopes. The pub there always turns it on for this weekend.

JP, Romain, and DCP head to Kamchatka, Russia to shred with the Russian Heli Project. Bears, volcanos, hotsprings, huge helis, smoked fish, fresh beer, vodka, pow and great friends make it a trip of a lifetime. Huge thanks to Max and the entire crew at the Russian Heli Project, and Snow Valley.

Sometimes, average conditions can turn into really good session.
After a trip in Japan with his yes crew Romain gives us a little taste of what backcountry riding is about: finding the spot, building kickers, waiting for the sun to come out, throwing big jumps and what about finishing the session in pillows.
