Family Comes First
Stop and think about you and your friends for a moment and how you think you guys would answer the following question...
"kids im going to walk to sydney to try and lose some weight, would you like to join me?"
Well that is exactly what the kids here were asked by their mum a couple of weeks ago and without hesitation they grabbed their boots, a backpack and headed out the door and down the street to support their mum.
Sarah and I came accross these guys at a small service station type road house on the back Highway between Casino and Grafton, "yep, out the back of Know where" about a week ago. As Sarah and i sat at a table in the dirt outside the old shack servo eating our chicken burgers that we are still not 100% sure were chicken, we noticed this family sitting accross from us and over heard them talking. The topic of Conversation was " i wonder if any buses come through here" "we can just sleep in that paddock over there" and "look at the size of this blister". I couldn't help myself and had to ask what they were doing out here, and after some polite conversation i was filled in on the story and that after almost 2 weeks of walking along the highway, through paddocks and fields and sleeping in a 2 man tent where ever they were when they got tired, their mum had developed blisters on her feet the size of golfballs and couldnt walk any further untill they healed. So Sarah and I shuffled the clothes around in the Rusty Van and gave the guys a lift to Coffs Harbour where they could rest their feet in the ocean for a few days and give those blisters and chance to heal before heading pack down the Pacific Highway.
For the Record, these guys were the most genuine, polite, friendly and out going people i have met in a while and the fact that these kids would walk this distance and sleep 20 metres off the Highway in a cheap tent every night for weeks just to support their mum, help her lose weight and have an experience to bond with each other like most people never would... i have nothing but respect for them!!!
So Sarah and I dropped them in Coffs with a few new Rusty Caps to keep the sun off their melons and are promised they will send us a photo upon their arrival in Sydney..
All the best guys!!!!
